Continental 4 Ring Waterford Gag

The 'gag' cheeks on this bit apply pressure to the horse's poll and mouthpiece through a 'leverage' action to provide increased control. The severity level on the action of this bit is dependent upon the positioning of the reins on the lower rings, the bottom ring being the most severe for a single rein option. The Waterford mouthpiece in this bit is made up of individual rounded links therefore giving a 'fluid' movement in the horse's mouth, thus helping to eliminate the opportunity for the horse to 'lean' on or 'take hold' of the bit. It is recommended that this bit is ridden (predominantly on the snaffle) with two reins one of which is attached directly to the snaffle ring and the other to the lower ring option(s) (to obtain the 'leverage' action).
